Choosing a camp

Can a woman train at a Thai camp alone?

Updated 2026-09-01

The short answer

Yes, and women train solo at Thai camps every week of the year. What varies between camps is not whether you are welcome but whether there are female trainers, other women to spar, and any structure built for you rather than around you.

The baseline across foreigner-facing camps is unremarkable: you turn up, you train, nobody makes an issue of it. The camps where women report the best experience are the ones with enough women training that partner work is not a daily negotiation about size and weight.

Female trainers are less common than camps imply. So are dedicated women sessions. Both exist, and both are worth asking about directly, because a camp that has one usually mentions it without being asked.

Practical things people raise afterwards: whether the accommodation has a lock and a private bathroom, whether the walk back from evening training is lit, and whether the camp has a way to raise a problem with someone other than the trainer it involves.

Worth knowing

We mark a women programme as confirmed only when we have checked it. Where it says not verified yet, treat the camp claim as a claim and ask them directly.
