A city gym two minutes from On Nut BTS that leads with Brazilian jiu-jitsu and runs Muay Thai alongside it, rather than the other way round. That makes it a poor substitute for a traditional Thai camp and a good fit for anyone living in Bangkok who wants more than one art on the same membership. Its own site says beginners are welcome, and there are kids classes and private sessions.

A fighters' stable at the end of a residential lane off Sukhumvit 101, founded in 1997 by a Lumpini promoter and named after the air conditioner brand that has sponsored it ever since. One ring under a pitched roof with the sides open, walls carrying three decades of fight photographs, and a roster of stadium champions the gym names itself. The record has a gap worth reading twice: the only timetable published is labelled fighters' training, twice a day with sparring and clinching in both sessions, and a single session is sold to anybody who turns up for 500 baht. Nothing on the page says which of those two things a visitor gets. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

A neighbourhood gym on the west side of Bangkok, off Bang Wa BTS rather than anywhere near the tourist centre. It calls itself an authentic Muay Thai gym, takes enquiries over LINE instead of through a booking page, and keeps an accommodation highlight on its Instagram. It is listed here because it turned up in the field notes series; nothing on its rates or its timetable has been read off a published page yet, so every hard field below is blank.

A Bangkok school that teaches Muay Boran and Krabi Krabong alongside Muay Thai and certifies krus, which makes it the one camp on this list where the draw is the older material rather than a fight team. Two group sessions a day out in Prawet, rooms on site, and the traditional courses sold as private or course blocks rather than drop in.

A Chatuchak gym with a named fighter stable that prices nearly everything in US dollars rather than baht, and grades its privates by which coach takes them. Suits someone booking a long block from abroad who wants the cost settled before landing, more than someone comparing baht rates once already in Thailand.

Suits someone who wants a small camp and a fixed daily rhythm more than someone who wants to be in the middle of the city.

Koh Phangan camp with a strong long-stay and wellness crossover crowd. Relaxed pace and a small group size. Progress depends heavily on who else happens to be on the island that month, which cuts both ways.

If Muay Thai is all you want, the Muay Thai pass is the cheaper way in and the membership is not worth the gap. Three bungalows sit on the gym grounds without a published rate. It also sells a six month membership that includes documents for a visa application, which says plainly who it is built for.

Accommodation is on the gym's own plot and sold by the week or the month rather than the night, starting with the option of sleeping in the gym itself, which is as cheap as training in Thailand gets. A private with the head coach costs roughly three times a session with a trainer, which tells you how the place is organised before you arrive.

A Thong Sala gym with a fitness floor attached and the most granular price list on the island, running from a single day to a full year in two columns, once a day and twice. The long tiers are where the price per session collapses, so it suits somebody settling in rather than passing through. Two bungalows are listed with no rate and no stated location, so treat accommodation here as unknown rather than on site.

One of the few established camps in Krabi, which is the appeal: mainland scenery and climbing on the doorstep without the density of the Phuket scene. Smaller trainee pool means fewer partners at your exact level. The same operator runs a second camp at Rawai Beach in Phuket, so confirm which of the two you are booking. English on the pads is in writing but rests on one named head trainer rather than the whole floor.

A small Ao Nang gym that publishes a daily rate and nothing else: train once a day or twice, and pay by the day. There is no week, month or private price on the site, and the rooms beside the gym are quoted on request, so the cost of a long stay has to be asked for rather than read. Suits somebody already in Ao Nang who wants to train while they are there more than somebody planning a month around a camp.

Two two-hour sessions a day, six days a week, and a price list three lines long: a class, a day pass, and a private for two students sharing one coach. No week or month rate makes a long stay awkward to budget, and the gym has no accommodation of its own. It reads as the daily training option for somebody already staying in Ao Nang.

The cheapest published drop-in of any camp on this site, and the only one in Krabi that prints a rate for grappling as well as Muay Thai. Read the passes before comparing them with anywhere else: the week and month are one class a day rather than unlimited, so they are a different product at a different price. MMA and no-gi BJJ are listed as waitlisted rather than running, which makes Muay Thai the thing you can count on turning up to.

The published ladder prices one session a day separately from two, so a lighter week costs less here than at a camp selling nothing but unlimited.

Closer to a fitness retreat than a fight camp, and open about it: the programmes it sells are built around weight loss, rehabilitation and holiday training, with Muay Thai as the main activity rather than the only one. Classes, private sessions and rooms are priced separately and published, which is rarer than it should be. Suits someone who wants to train every day and get fit in Thailand, and is not where you go to be matched for a fight.

A small Nong Kae gym that has been running since 2017 and publishes a plain price list: one session, packs of five to twenty, or a month at one or two sessions a day. Three coaches, named on the site, with the head coach credited with twenty years in the sport. Nothing is bundled with a room or a visa, so the month buys training and nothing else, which is why it is one of the cheaper months in the country. Suits somebody already staying in Hua Hin who wants to train daily without buying a package.

A family gym in Nong Kae run by Kru Tum, who names his two assistant coaches and three of his fighters on the site. The timetable runs three adult group sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and two on the other three days, because the early evening hour goes to the children, and every class is an hour and a half. Every price is printed twice, once for children and once for adults, so a parent training alongside a kid can read the whole bill off one page. The month buys training and nothing else, with no room and no visa attached, and the gym is closed on Sunday. Suits a family or a beginner already staying in Hua Hin who wants a plain price list and a coach who is also the owner.

Sells nothing but accommodation-inclusive camps: every tier from one night at 1,500 to three months at 75,000 bundles a private bungalow with unlimited Muay Thai, boxing and gym access, and no training-only rate is published anywhere on the site. The property runs to over 7,000 square metres with eight bungalows, a pool, a sauna, a steam room, an ice bath and its own restaurant, so the comparison is with a training resort rather than with a gym down the road. It also runs CrossFit, Hyrox and strength work alongside the striking. Suits somebody buying a block of time and a bed in one go, and is no use to anybody already living in Hua Hin who wants to pay for training alone.

A family-run camp on the mountain at Khao Yai Thiang, which its own site puts about three hours by road northeast of Bangkok. Two full rings and sixteen bags, and training is sold either by the single session or inside a package that bundles the room and two meals a day. The isolation is the draw and the catch at once: there is no town attached to it, so a month here is training, eating and sleeping.
