How we verify camps, and how this site makes money
Every claim on this site should be checkable. This page explains what the badges mean, what we refuse to print, and what to do when we get something wrong.
Of the 23 camps listed, 0 have been verified on the ground and 0 are partly verified. The rest are editorial records built from public sources, and every one of them says so at the top of its page.
The badges
What each status actually means
- Not verified yet
Nobody from this site has been to the camp. The record was built from public sources and reads as an editorial summary, not a report. Every factual field we could not confirm says "Not verified yet".
- Partly verified · date shown
Some of the record has been confirmed with the camp directly or by a contributor we could identify, and the rest has not. The page shows which is which.
- Verified on the ground · date shown
Somebody from this site trained there and checked the record against what they saw, on the date shown beside the badge. Prices and schedules go stale, so the date matters as much as the badge.
The line
What we will not publish
Prices we have not checked. An unconfirmed price is the single most damaging thing a directory can publish, so the field stays empty and labelled.
Star ratings. We collect no reviews, so we have no rating to average, and a number invented from a summary is a lie with decimal places.
Photographs of camps we have not visited. The artwork on this site is illustration, and the footer says so on every page.
Session counts, class sizes, and coach counts taken from a camp’s own marketing without a check.
Paid placement. Ranking is not for sale. If that ever changes it will be labelled in the listing itself, not disclosed only here.
Money and corrections
Common questions
- How does Muay Thai Guide make money?
- It does not yet. The intended model is a booking or referral commission paid by camps when a reader arrives through us, plus affiliate revenue on gear and travel insurance. Commission would not affect ranking, and any page that carries a commercial link will say so on the page. We will not sell placement.
- Are the camp rankings paid for?
- No. No camp has paid for a listing, a position, or a description. Order on listing pages comes from the editorial record, and the matcher orders by fit to your answers.
- Why do so many fields say "Not verified yet"?
- Because they have not been verified yet. Most directories fill those gaps with numbers scraped from marketing pages. We would rather show you an empty field you can trust than a full one you cannot.
- How do I correct something on this site?
- Use the contribute form and say what is wrong and how you know. Corrections from people who trained at the camp are the most useful kind. We will not publish a change we cannot stand behind, and we do not remove accurate criticism because a camp asked.
- Do you accept payment to remove a negative note?
- No. The section naming who a camp does not suit is the reason this site exists, and it is not for sale in either direction.
