Where to train
The largest concentration of foreigner-facing camps in Thailand, clustered around Rawai and Chalong in the south of the island. Widest range of English-speaking trainers and on-site accommodation, and the easiest place to land as a first-timer. Also the most touristed and generally the most expensive.

Chalong, Phuket / Large camp
The largest and best-known training complex in Thailand, running Muay Thai alongside a full MMA and BJJ programme. Big enough that you can always find training partners at your level, and structured enough that a total beginner is never left guessing. The trade-off is scale: it feels like a fitness resort rather than a Thai gym, and it is priced accordingly.
Rawai, Phuket / Mid-size camp
A long-running Rawai camp that stayed Muay Thai only while neighbours diversified into MMA. Reputation is built on Thai trainer quality and pad work rather than facilities. Suits people who want to actually get better at Muay Thai rather than sample several martial arts.
Rawai, Phuket / Mid-size camp
One of the older established camps in the Rawai cluster, with a mixed crowd of holiday trainees and longer-stay fighters. On-site accommodation and a walkable location put it in the practical middle of the Phuket options.
Chalong, Phuket / Mid-size camp
Mid-sized Chalong camp with a reputation for a friendly, less intimidating atmosphere than the larger complexes nearby. A reasonable first camp for someone nervous about walking into a hard gym.
Thalang, Phuket / Small camp
Smaller camp in the quieter north of Phuket, away from the Rawai and Chalong concentration. Being out of the tourist strip is the point: fewer distractions, smaller groups, more trainer attention. Less convenient if you want nightlife or a big social scene.
Chalong, Phuket / Mid-size camp
MMA-first gym rather than a Muay Thai camp that added MMA. The right pick if mixed martial arts is the actual goal and Muay Thai is one component of it. A poor pick if you want a traditional Thai Muay Thai experience.
Bang Tao, Phuket / Mid-size camp
Based on the north-west coast near Bang Tao beach rather than in the southern camp cluster, which changes the whole trip: quieter beaches, more of a resort setting, longer drive to the Chalong and Rawai scene.
Chalong, Phuket / Mid-size camp
Long-established Chalong camp with a traditional Muay Thai focus and a track record of putting foreign students into local fights. Suits people who want a clear path toward competing rather than a fitness holiday.
