Pad work
Also called pads, or holding pads
What it means
Rounds worked one-to-one with a trainer holding Thai pads, where you throw combinations and he corrects them as you go. It is the centre of a Thai session and the reason people fly there.
A trainer will call you over by name or by pointing. You put your gloves on, you work three to five rounds, and everything else in the session is arranged around that.
How much individual attention you get in those rounds is the single biggest difference between camps, and it is not something a website can tell you. It comes down to how many people the trainer has to get through.

Words that go with it
Private session
A paid session with a trainer to yourself, outside the group timetable. Usually an hour, usually booked directly with the trainer, and usually the fastest way to fix something specific.
Bag work
Rounds on a heavy bag, usually after pads. It is where you get volume and conditioning, and where you practise the combination the trainer just corrected.
