Roundhouse kick

Te in Thai, sometimes called the Thai kick

What it means

The signature Muay Thai kick, thrown with the shin rather than the foot, turning the hips all the way through so the whole body carries the strike.

The difference from a karate or taekwondo kick is that nothing is snapped back. The leg swings through the target like a bat, and if it misses you turn with it.

It is also why shin conditioning matters. You are hitting with bone, and the first week of pad work is where most people discover that.
