Sweep
What it means
Taking an opponent off their feet using their own momentum, usually by catching a kick or turning them out of the clinch. It scores, and it demoralises.
Muay Thai has no ground fighting, so a sweep is not a takedown into position. It is a scoring event that resets the fight and makes the other person look controlled.
Thai fighters will sweep you in your first clinch session almost casually, and it is one of the more enjoyable ways to be humbled.
