Bangkok for people staying for months

Staying in Bangkok for months of Muay Thai

The region where a long stay looks least like a training holiday and most like a life.

Updated 2026-09-01

The short version

A long stay in Bangkok works when you want a city as well as a gym: work, healthcare, food, transport and things to do that are not training. It is the least camp-shaped way to spend six months in Thailand.

Because gyms here rarely house you, a long stay means renting properly, and the rental market is deep at every price point. Where you live decides your commute, and your commute decides whether you actually make the morning session.

It also suits people who are working while they train. The infrastructure for that is better here than anywhere else in the country, and the timetable of a city gym tends to accommodate it.

Stadium access is the underrated part. Being able to watch good fights regularly changes how quickly you understand what you are being taught.

Where this goes wrong

The heat and the air in Bangkok are their own tax on a long stay. People who train through it usually adjust their schedule rather than their expectations.
