Month 08 of 12
August
Still the heart of the wet season, and the last month before the central plains get their worst of it.
In August, train in Bangkok, Pattaya and Koh Samui. Nowhere is clearly the wrong call.
August looks like July on every chart and is worth separating from it for one reason: September is the heaviest month of the year in Bangkok and Pattaya, and August is not. If the central plains are the plan, August is the better half of a two-month choice and the gap between them is real rather than a rounding.
Everywhere else the August reading is the July reading. The Andaman coast is wet, the interior is wet, the southern Gulf is between its seasons, and the camps are as quiet as they get.

Inside the wet window
The months the region prints as its own wettest. Almost every camp trains under a roof, so this reads as heat, humidity and a quiet gym rather than as a cancelled session.

Between the two
Named in neither stretch. The shoulder weeks, which is where the better trades usually are: the weather of the good months without the prices or the crowds of them.

Dates that can move
Most trips can move by a fortnight and a fortnight is the difference between two of these pages. Both neighbours are worth reading before the dates are booked rather than after.
