Camp against camp

Dang Muay Thai or Santai Muay Thai

Two camps in Chiang Mai, set against each other on what each one publishes about itself. Nothing below is our opinion of either.

Dang Muay Thai

Prices carry the gym own date, October 2026. The month figure is the three-a-day tier, which the gym equates with unlimited; one a day is 5,500 and two a day 9,500. There is no week product, only class packs: ten for 4,500 and twenty for 8,500 in the group, and ten privates for 7,000, twenty for 13,500, fifty for 26,000, with a second person on a private at 450. The rooms are quoted as stay-and-train rather than as a bed, so the nightly line stays blank: a standard double on site is 2,000 a night, 10,000 a week or 28,000 a month, a deluxe room a ten to fifteen minute walk away is 3,000, 12,000 or 32,000, and every one of them includes unlimited group class, three a day, seven days a week.

Santai Muay Thai

There is no single-session rate: the shortest ticket is a 700 day covering both sessions. Private is 600 for Santai students and 800 for a drop-in. Two weeks is 6,500, three 9,000, three months 29,000, a year 100,000. Accommodation is eight guest houses near the gym rather than on it, quoted by the week from 4,000 with training included.

Against the country

Each line runs from the cheapest figure listed camps print for that rate to the dearest, with Dang Muay Thai marked above the line, Santai Muay Thai below it and the stretch between them inked. In baht, Dang Muay Thai first, then Santai Muay Thai: a month, unlimited the same at 11,000, inside a run of 14,001 that 26 of 44 listed camps print; one private at 750 and 600, 150 apart inside a run of 900 that 22 of 44 listed camps print. Rates only one of the two publishes are left out, because a line carrying one mark says nothing about two camps.

They quote the same figure on one line: a month unlimited.

What we cannot tell you yet

Neither camp has been confirmed on the lines below, so this page does not compare them. They are named rather than left off, because a comparison that only shows the fields it happens to hold is the shape of a page pretending to be complete.

In their own words

What each camp is

Dang Muay Thai

Twenty full-time trainers and two rings on Arak Road, inside the Old City moat, open seven in the morning to seven at night. Rooms on the same site come with the classes folded in, which makes it the easiest camp in Chiang Mai to arrive at with one booking.

Santai Muay Thai

Set outside Chiang Mai city in San Kamphaeng, which makes it a training-first stay rather than a city one. Long-standing reputation with foreign trainees who want structure without the scale of the Phuket complexes.

What people ask about Dang Muay Thai and Santai Muay Thai

Every figure below is read off the two records at build time rather than written by hand, so a question neither camp has published anything behind is left out instead of answered softly.
Is Dang Muay Thai or Santai Muay Thai cheaper?
Neither. Dang Muay Thai and Santai Muay Thai both print a month of unlimited training at 11,000 baht. They both quote one other priced line, and Santai Muay Thai is lower on one. A cheaper month is not a cheaper trip. Food, a room where the camp has none and the flight home all sit outside these figures, and a camp that is 2,000 baht dearer a month is the cheaper of the two the moment it saves you a daily taxi.
What is the difference between Dang Muay Thai and Santai Muay Thai?
3 of the 4 lines both camps publish come out different: a private session, how many sessions a day run and whether there are rooms on site. They match on a month of unlimited training. Dang Muay Thai publishes a single group session, and Santai Muay Thai publishes a week of unlimited training and whether beginners are taken. What separates two camps on the mats is the trainer you get put with, and no camp publishes that. Use the lines above to cut the list down, then ask both.
Is Dang Muay Thai or Santai Muay Thai better for a beginner?
Only one of them is placed either way. Santai Muay Thai reads as a fit for a beginner and Dang Muay Thai publishes nothing we could read it from, so its line stays blank rather than get a guess. That is a call made at a desk from what each camp publishes about who it trains, not a verdict from the mats. A gym built around a fight team will take a beginner's money and leave them holding pads at the back for a month, so ask both how a first session actually runs before you book either.
Can you stay at Dang Muay Thai or Santai Muay Thai?
Dang Muay Thai only. Santai Muay Thai says it has no rooms, which is a checked no rather than a blank. Neither nightly rate is published, so the room line stays blank rather than get estimated off camps elsewhere that do print one. Staying in means the commute stops being a decision you make twice a day at five in the morning, which matters more than the saving on most trips shorter than a month.
How many sessions a day do Dang Muay Thai and Santai Muay Thai run?
Dang Muay Thai runs 3 sessions a day and Santai Muay Thai runs 2. That is how many are on offer and not how many anybody should plan on taking. A timetable says when the door is open; how many times you walk through it is most of the difference between a training holiday and a camp, and a first week of doubles is how people spend a second week injured.
How far apart are Dang Muay Thai and Santai Muay Thai?
About 15 km in a straight line, measured between the two pins rather than along a road, so a motorbike covers more ground than that and traffic decides the rest. Both camps sit in Chiang Mai. That is a ride rather than a walk, so trying both in one trip means picking a base and paying to cross, or splitting the stay in two.

Trained at either? Correct us.

Every figure on this page came off a camp’s own website. Dang Muay Thai was read on 2026-10-13 and Santai Muay Thai on 2026-09-02. Camps change prices without changing the page the price is printed on. If one of these is wrong, or if you know a line neither camp publishes, tell us and we will date the change.
